Basic Details of the Star Joker Slot

Star Joker Details, RTP and Volatility

A 5x3 grid offers ten fixed paylines on which to match old-school fruit machine symbols. You can enjoy this slot from as little as $0.10 per play, though higher-rollers aren’t shut out thanks to an upper limit of $100.

For the most part, developer Play’n GO offers up a reasonable return to player rate of 96.25%. However, you’ll need to be wary of lower-paying versions found at some new online casinos. These feature inferior RTP rates of 94.23%, 91.18%, 87.17% and 84.14%.

Finally, there’s a healthy top prize of 5,000x up for grabs, which seems pretty high considering the game’s low level of volatility.

A wild sits in the top-left corner of the 5x3 grid after a losing spin. The selected bet size is $1, as seen below the reels.

Theme & Graphics in Star Joker

Star Joker is quite obviously inspired by the fruit machines of yesteryear. As such, you’ll see plenty of iconic symbols on the reels, including a golden bell, a pair of cherries and a large red 7.

However, instead of tapping into old-timey nostalgia, Play’n GO has jazzed up a traditional theme with plenty of modern touches. A special wild is present during the free spins bonus, for example. While the chilled out electronic soundtrack that accompanies the action is reminiscent of something from a Daft Punk album.

What’s more, the graphics are first-class, from the vibrant purple background to the rich color palette used on the game’s symbols. Overall, it’s a nice-looking game with a theme that works well.

        Star Joker Slot Features

Next up in our Star Joker review, it’s time to look more closely at how the game works.

        Regular Symbols

Before we get into the features and mechanics of this slot, let’s first address the game’s symbols. There are eight regular-paying symbols, five of which are colorful fruits.

The cherries and strawberry pay the least, with 0.5x, 2x and 10x returned when matching three, four or five. However, the plum, orange and watermelon all offer slightly better returns. You can expect 1x, 4x and 15x for dropping three, four or five onto a payline.

Three higher-paying symbols will reward you even if you only match two. These are the bell, diamond and Lucky 7, all of which pay 0.5x for making a pair. However, greater prizes of 25x, 50x and 100x lie in wait if you can hit five-of-a-kind.

        Joker Scatters

The titular joker, dressed in red and blue, serves as the game’s scatter. These can appear on reels one, three and five and you’ll need three to trigger the free spins round.

        Wilds

There are actually two wilds in this slot. The standard wild is a gold star, which substitutes for any regular symbol, as well as paying rewards of its own. You’ll bank 1x, 10x, 100x and 500x whenever you hit two, three, four or five of these.

A special wild can also appear during the free spins bonus, which we’ll discuss later in this Star Joker review.

        Gamble Feature

After securing a win, you’ll have the option to gamble. Of course, you can simply collect your prize if you wish. But the more daring might like to try and guess the color of a playing card, to double their money. Better still, correctly predicting the suit returns 4x the prize.

        Free Spins

Collect three Joker Scatters to activate the bonus round with ten free spins. This feature plays out just like the base game, only a special Wild Joker can also appear on the reels.

This symbol looks just like the Joker Scatter, but it’s gold in color and features the word “WILD” at the base. It can substitute for any symbol in the game, including the regular scatter.

If three scatters should appear during the bonus, an additional ten free spins are awarded.

The total Gamble feature win stands at $28, shown below the main game window. Potential payouts are visible left and right.

How to Play Star Joker Online

There’s not really much to learn, as this classic fruit machine slot is pretty easy to play. Drop at least two matching symbols onto one of the ten different paylines to win a prize. They must line up from left to right to be valid, starting with reel one.

Choose your stake using the preset options beneath the reels, then tap the green button to spin. Alternatively, you can use the purple button to configure as many as 100 Auto Play spins. The lightning bolt icon in the bottom-left corner speeds up the action.

Try the Star Joker Demo for Free before playing for real money

Before diving into this game at one of our recommended real money casinos, it’s a good idea to practice first. Give our free Star Joker game a try and you’ll quickly get a feel for the volatility, as well as learning the rules. Only when you’re more comfortable is it time to play properly.

Star Joker Review – Our Final Verdict

Like most Play’n GO slots, Star Joker is visually-pleasing with a soundtrack to match. Whether you’re playing on desktop or mobile, it looks great, with a user interface that’s highly intuitive.

There’s nothing hugely exciting about the game, which offers a minimal number of features that will be extremely familiar to regular slots players. This simplicity, combined with a low minimum bet limit and easygoing variance, makes it the ideal game for a beginner. In addition, the nostalgic theme will surely appeal to veterans.

Don’t expect to be blown away by this slot, but don’t write it off either. It’s definitely enjoyable to play, plus the RTP and maximum potential win are more than reasonable for a game of this type.
